One of the most common questions users ask before purchasing a lithium battery is how long it takes to fully charge. The answer depends on several factors, including battery capacity, charger current, and charging efficiency.

For a 48V lithium battery, charging time is primarily determined by the battery’s amp-hour (Ah) rating and the charging current provided by the charger. For example, a 48V 100Ah battery stores approximately 4.8kWh of energy. If a 20A charger is used, the theoretical charging time is around five hours.
However, charging is never 100% efficient. As the battery approaches full capacity, the charging current gradually decreases to protect the cells and extend battery life. Because of this, the actual charging time is often slightly longer than the calculated value.
